Warts are noncancerous growths that are incredibly stubborn. If you’re battling them, reach out to Twin Falls Dermatology & Aesthetics, LLC where we take your skin health seriously. If you feel like you’ve tried just about everything — from over-the-counter solutions to duct tape — don’t give up. We can help you find effective ways to treat warts.

Here’s why warts are so difficult to get rid of — along with ways we can help you treat them.

All about warts

Warts are noncancerous growths that can appear on the skin's surface and are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). There are at least 100 types of HPV, but only specific strains cause warts on the skin.

Warts vary in appearance, ranging from small, flesh-colored bumps to larger, rough-textured growths. Warts are highly contagious and can spread through direct contact with an infected person or contaminated surfaces.

Why warts are hard to treat

As you know, treating warts is challenging. They often persist despite over-the-counter treatments such as salicylic acid, cryotherapy kits, or duct tape occlusion therapy.

Warts can also recur after successful treatment, especially in people with weakened immune systems or persistent HPV infection.

Effective treatment options

At Twin Falls Dermatology & Aesthetics, we offer a range of advanced treatment options to effectively target and eliminate stubborn warts. Some of the most effective treatments include:

Prescription medications

We may prescribe topical medications containing stronger concentrations of ingredients such as salicylic acid or immune system modifiers (imiquimod) to help dissolve warts and stimulate the body's immune response.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy performed by a dermatologist involves freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen, which causes it to blister and eventually fall off. This procedure is highly effective for treating stubborn or large warts.

Laser therapy

Laser therapy uses targeted beams of light to destroy wart tissue while minimizing damage to surrounding skin. This approach is particularly effective for treating resistant or recurrent warts and can be tailored to your specific needs.

Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy involves injecting a substance directly into the wart to stimulate the body's immune response and attack the virus. This treatment can be effective for stubborn warts that have not responded to other therapies.

Surgical removal

In cases where warts are particularly large or resistant to other treatments, we may recommend surgical removal. In this case, we administer a local anesthetic and then cut out the wart tissue.

Dealing with warts can be frustrating, but at Twin Falls Dermatology & Aesthetics, we offer personalized treatment plans tailored to your unique needs and skin type.
